For everyday cleaning of Lugo Stone benchtop surfaces we recommend using non-bleach, non abrasive cleaners together with warm water and a damp cloth or sponge. Liquid spills including fruits, vegetables, food colourings and curries should be wiped immediately and cleaned with a mild detergent and water. For more stubborn stains such as red wine or beetroot use a non-abrasive cleaning pad such as a household sponge, along with a glass and surface cleaner. Should chewing gum, nail polish, or similar substances adhere to the surface, gently scrape off with a plastic scraper, and then follow the routine cleaning procedures listed above 


Please note: never attempt to polish the surface on your own and avoid prolonged rubbing in one spot when cleaning. 

Heat Damage

Prolonged exposure to heat or sudden changes in temperature may create cracks due to thermal shock which are not covered from the Lugo Stone benchtop warranty. It is recommended to use protective heat pads before placing cookware such as pots or dishes onto the surfaces. Additional care should be taken when using oversized cooking utilities such as any large pans that may overhang the cooktop and radiate heat directly onto the surface of the stone.

Preventing Scratches

Whilst Lugo Stone benchtop is resistant to scratches, cuts and chipping we do not recommend cutting directly on the surface of the benchtop stone and we always recommend using cutting boards. Scratches and chips to the edge or primary surface of Lugo Stone benchtop are not protected under the warranty.

General Comments

Colour  Selection

As with any surface, Lugo Stone benchtop can be permanently damaged by exposure to strong chemicals and solvents that undermine its physical properties. Do not use products that contain trichlorethane or methylene chloride, such as paint removers or stripper. Avoid any highly aggressive cleaning agents like oven cleaner that have high alkaline/pH levels. Should the surface be accidentally exposed to any of these damaging products, rinse immediately with water to neutralize the effect.
